Adobe Dreamweaver Website Development provides attendees with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to build and manage professional websites using Dreamweaver. This is the course to take if you're using Dreamweaver and you've never created a web site before, or perhaps you've used previous versions of Dreamweaver and need to refresh your knowledge, or you've used other visual web site creation tools and now want to use Dreamweaver. This class is equivalent to other Dreamweaver Fundamentals and Dreamweaver Intermediate classes offered elsewhere. We feel that it's necessary to work through and understand all the concepts in this class to do any effective work for the web using Dreamweaver.

This course is for people either new to web design and development and want to use Dreamweaver to build intuitive, attractive and accessible websites, or for people with some experience with web concepts but are new to Dreamweaver.

To learn to use Dreamweaver to create web pages and manage web sites. The class also provides an introduction to html and substantial information about using Cascading Style Sheets to format text and create layouts.
At the end of this class attendees well have a complete and robust foundation for working with Dreamweaver to create and manage websites.

Other recommended courses would be Fireworks, or Photoshop and Illustrator.

To gain the most from the class, you should: be comfortable working with Windows operating systems or the Macintosh operating system. No prior knowledge of html is necessary, the basics of html will be covered during the class.

Unit 3: Adding Content to a Site * Exploring the various ways of adding text to a page * Controlling document structure with html paragraphs, headings and lists *Making ordered list, unordered lists and definition lists * Adding horizontal rules* Adding special characters

Unit 4: Cascading Style Sheets, a crash course * Why you need to use Cascading Style Sheets * Creating CSS styles for formating text * Understanding the difference between inline styles, embedded styles and external stles * Creating embedded and external styles in Dreamweaver * Understanding the types of CSS style selectors * Understanding the CSS order of precedence * Exporting CSS rule definitions * Creating tag selectors and class styles * Attaching external style sheets * Creating advanced styles * Creating a new external style sheet * Displaying styles * Understanding CSS order of inheritance * Creating internal styles with the Property inspector * Editing and modifying an existing CSS file * Creating a CSS style sheet for printing purposes * Creating CSS styles for displaying a web page on other devices (cell phones and pda's)

Unit 5: Working with Graphics * Understanding the differences between graphic formats for the web: gif, jpeg and png files * Placing graphics on a page * Modifying image properties * Why it isn't a good ideat to edit images from within Dreamweaver though we demonstrate how to do it and things to watch out for * Doing "roundtrip" editing with Fireworks or Photoshop from Dreamweaver * Adding the "alt" text to graphics make your site "accesible" to people with diabilities * Customizing the Insert bar to find features in Dreamweaver easier * Adding Flash content to a web page * Adding Flash Video to your web site
